Baton Rouge Housing Trends: October 2010 East Baton Rouge Residential Building Permit Numbers

 

RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL PERMITS DECLINE!  As a whole, both residential and commercial, building permits are down from 1,763 in September 2010 to 1,674 in October 2010.  October 2009 versus October 2010 saw a drop of -7.31% from 1806 to 1,674 permits.  Total valuation of permits in the same period is down -60.5% and total fees collected is down -27.6%. 

OCTOBER 2010 RESIDENTIAL SFR PERMITS TOTAL “32”!  For Residential Permits only for “Single Family Residences”, October 2010 saw just 32 permits issued versus 75 for September 2010.  October 2010 was by far the lowest number of SFR permits issued in 2010.  The second lowest month was February 2010 with 42 permits issued.  October continues the downward trend of less Single Family Residences being built in the wake of economic uncertainty nationally from lack of leadership in Washington, D.C..
